Rakunana is conceived as a dual-experience destination, with a grounded, authentic Japanese izakaya on the ground floor and an intimate speakeasy bar above.

The downstairs space focuses on evoking the essence of a traditional Japanese izakaya—warm, unpretentious, and deeply rooted in everyday culture. The design emphasizes natural materials such as walnut wood, textured plaster, and soft ambient lighting to create a sense of familiarity and comfort., capturing the spirit of neighborhood dining in Japan.

In contrast, the upstairs speakeasy introduces a more refined and curated experience. Inspired by the ambiance of an art collector’s private residence, the space leans into a low-key luxury—layered, intimate, and slightly enigmatic. Rich materials, controlled lighting, and carefully selected art elements define the environment, creating a sense of discovery and exclusivity while maintaining a subtle connection to the narrative below.

Together, the two levels form a cohesive yet contrasting journey—moving from authentic, everyday warmth to a more introspective and elevated nightlife experience.
